The Ron Paul Machine vs. the Republican Establishment: 6 Steps Toward Unity

Note: This piece was written a couple weeks before it was published, before the Minnesota Republican U.S Senate endorsement contest was settled.
This year’s election is for all the marbles. President Barack Obama, his administrative cronies, and his allied radicals on the Hill are hell-bent on continuing their “fundamental transformation” of America from a republic of law into a neo-feudal plantation. Most activists right of center understand the gravity of the situation and recognize a proverbial time for choosing.
However, there is another battle erupting within the Republican Party which is just as consequential. A civil war is taking place between established activists and new entrants rallied around Ron Paul. This battle for the soul of the party has the potential to leave both sides — and thus the party itself — in tattered ruins, accomplishing more than any leftist subversive could ever hope to.
If You Could Ask Ron Paul Anything, What Would It Be?

Ron Paul is coming to town, and you will have plenty of opportunities to engage him. The big event will be Monday night at the Minneapolis Convention Center at 7pm. I’ve been tapped to lead some Q & A, but the logistics won’t allow something as quaint as passing a mic around the audience (too many people expected). So, if you want your question asked, let me know and I’ll do my best to work it in.
Otherwise, if you want to ask the Congressman a question directly, the smaller events around town will allow for that. I’ll be moderating the one in Chanhassen on Saturday. More info is available here.
Hunkered Between Santorum and Paul Lies Peace Through Total War

Imagine discovering that your police force, funded through local taxes, has begun diverting patrols to a neighboring town instead of protecting your own. Most people would be up in arms, and rightfully so.
A similar impulse informs Ron Paul’s foreign policy. He claims our military is off adventuring outside its jurisdiction. It is a message which appeals to a loyal base of supporters who believe that America’s military ought to respond to direct threats against American lives, rather than police the rest of the world.
There is a legitimate argument for refocusing our military, but not as Ron Paul and many of his supporters articulate it.
Horrific Stabbing of Infant Shows Flaw in Leftist Worldview

A three month old baby girl was stabbed to death along with most of her family on Friday.
In the Israeli settlement of Itamar on the West Bank, at least one terrorist broke into the home of Ruth and Udi Fogel (35 and 36). The mother and father of six were brutally stabbed to death in their bed. The killer(s) then stalked from room to room and slayed three of six children – two boys, Yoav (11), Elad (3), and a three month old infant girl whose name was Hadas.
“The children were literally slaughtered,” an IDF officer said, describing the scene, including the children’s toys spilled out on the floor and covered in blood. “This is one of the most brutal attacks we have ever seen.”
Three other children in the family survived. Two were in a side room and perhaps went unnoticed. A third, the eldest son Tamar (12) was away from the home. Imagine how their lives have been devastated, how difficult it will be to salvage their broken hearts and rattled souls.
“Nobody’s Gonna Touch Israel”: NRB Interviews Ron Paul

We caught up with Congressman Ron Paul after his speech at the Tea Party Patriots American Policy Summit in Phoenix over the weekend. One of the themes of that speech was that America cannot impose democracy upon the rest of the world. However, unaddressed was whether America ought to protect allies who are free and wish to remain so. Here was our follow-up with the congressman.
NRB: David Horowitz and others have been critical of the effect that your foreign policy would have upon Israel… How would you describe a libertarian vision for alliance that could support democracies where people want to determine their own course while under threat by external forces?
Ron Paul: We’ve been involved a long time, since World War II, especially since we’ve inherited or developed our empire. We strongly supported all the dictators that surround Israel, and sometimes we buy peace and pay for it. But it’s unstable. And that instability has always been a threat to Israel. Now, when it’s coming apart, and our financial system’s coming apart, Israel is in worse shape than ever because of our so-called protection.
